DIY Guide to roller coating a Resin Bound Surface

We would advise taping up block work and PVC doors and cills prior to application.  Ensure that the surface is clean and dry prior to application.  Ensure that the weather stays dry for the curing time of 4 hours (minimum).

Step 1 (Mixing)

Pour 500ml of Rustins Xylene Thinners (Toolstation) into the Part A bucket and using a paddle drill whisk gently for 30 seconds.  Then add the entire contents of Part B ensuring you scrape the sides and then whisk for 90 seconds.  Do not use other manufacturers of Xylene, as it could be diluted with water and cause a moisture reaction.

Step 2 (Application)

Pour the mixed resin into a decorator’s trough and apply to the surface with a 12-inch roller.  Ensure that any thick areas of resin are rolled out.  Apply crushed glass to ensure that it maintains slip resistance.

Step 3 (Drying)

The surface should be dry within 4 hours.  Check by hand first.
